More about
Sue...
She matriculated from The Johannesburg School of Arts in 1984 with distinctions in Painting, Graphic Art and Design.
Most of her themes were distinctly African, using the silhouette of people against a vibrant background of colour and geometric designs. After a career in the IT industry her dream to paint full-time was reawakened after completing a colour therapy course. Her personal journey into colour and how it moves and plays with individual emotions led her into abstract.
She realised that her painting is more about colour, contrast and texture than the realistic representation of an image. She love deep rich tones of colour. "Most of my inspiration comes from 'sky-scapes' and images of the horizon. The play of solid land and the vast depth of the sky in all its hues, is for me, very moving.
My paintings could be called abstract landscapes. They pull the eye towards the horizon and move my heart."
She has been a full time artist since 2005 and currently reside in Edenvale, Gauteng, South Africa |
